Planning a trip from Bangkok to Krabi? Flying with VietJet is a convenient and budget-friendly option. I recently took this route and wanted to share my experience, offering tips and insights to help make your journey as smooth as possible.

Booking Your Flight

Booking a flight with VietJet is straightforward. Their website is user-friendly, and you can also use their mobile app for added convenience. I booked the ticket for USD 61 per person for a return flight, which included only cabin baggage. No check-in baggage was included in this fare, but it was available at an additional cost.

Pre-Flight Preparations

Before heading to the airport, make sure you have all your travel documents ready. This includes your passport, booking confirmation, and any necessary visas. VietJet allows online check-in, which can save you time at the airport. You can check in online 24 to 1 hour before your flight.

Getting to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is Bangkok's main international airport. Depending on your location in Bangkok, you have several options for getting to the airport:

1. Airport Rail Link: This is a fast and affordable option if you're near a BTS (Skytrain) or MRT (subway) station. The Airport Rail Link connects to Suvarnabhumi and is a reliable choice.

2. Taxis and Ride-Hailing Services: If you have a lot of luggage or prefer a direct route, taxis and ride-hailing services like Grab are available. Just ensure you allow enough time for potential traffic.

3. Buses: There are several bus routes that serve Suvarnabhumi Airport. This is a budget-friendly option but may take longer than other modes of transport.

At the Airport

Suvarnabhumi Airport is large, so give yourself plenty of time to navigate to your gate. VietJet operates from the main terminal, and their check-in counters are well-signposted. If you haven't checked in online, you can do so at the counters. After checking in, proceed through security and immigration.

The Flight Experience

VietJet is known for its low-cost fares, and the flight experience is generally positive. The aircraft are modern and clean, with friendly cabin crew. The flight from Bangkok to Krabi typically takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Although VietJet is a budget airline, you can purchase snacks and drinks on board. Even water was not free and had to be purchased on the flight. I recommend bringing your own snacks and a water bottle to stay comfortable during the flight.

Takeoff and the flight journey were smooth, but the landing was harsh. The seats were small and a little uncomfortable, but I had no complaints for the price I got the tickets.

Arrival in Krabi

Krabi International Airport (KBV) is small and easy to navigate. Once you land, you'll go through a brief immigration check if you're arriving from an international flight. Since this is a domestic flight from Bangkok, you can head straight to the baggage claim area. The process is usually quick, and you can collect your luggage without much hassle.

Krabi Airport offers several transportation options to get you to your final destination. There are taxi services readily available to take you to popular areas such as Ao Nang Beach, Krabi Town, and the city center. The airport's small size ensures a quick baggage arrival and a swift transition from the airport to your hotel or resort.

Getting to Your Destination in Krabi

Krabi offers several transportation options to get you to your final destination:

1. Airport Shuttle: There are shuttle services that can take you to popular areas like Ao Nang, Krabi Town, and Railay Beach. These are affordable and convenient.

2. Taxis and Private Transfers: If you prefer a more direct route, taxis and private transfers are available. These can be booked in advance or at the airport.

3. Car Rentals: For those who want to explore Krabi at their own pace, car rental services are available at the airport.

Tips for a Smooth Journey

- Arrive Early: Give yourself plenty of time to get through check-in, security, and immigration, especially during peak travel seasons.

- Pack Light: VietJet has strict baggage policies. Ensure your carry-on and checked luggage meet their requirements to avoid extra fees.

- Stay Informed: Keep an eye on your flight status for any changes or delays. VietJet's mobile app and website provide real-time updates.

Flying from Bangkok to Krabi on VietJet is a convenient and cost-effective way to travel. With a bit of preparation, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey.
